“John Henry Historical Park Program on November 12th”
The John Henry Historical Park (JHHP) Steering Committee will be hosting a program entitled “John Henry Historical Park: From the Beginning” on Tuesday, November 12th in the Summers Memorial Building auditorium beginning at 6:00 p.m.
The program will feature local expert Bill Dillon’s presentation on the John Henry legend, a short film starring actor Danny Glover as John Henry, and an update by WVU Extension Agent Rick Moorefield on the evolution of the park’s development.
The purpose of the program is to provide the public with an update on the status of the park’s development and to solicit donations that are needed to generate the local funds required to match various grants for continued park development.
In addition to the program, a sandwich buffet and soft drinks will be provided.
Tickets to the November 12th program are $15 adults, $5 children 6-12, under 6 are free and are available from any member of the JHHP steering committee and at various locations around Hinton including the County Clerk’s office, the New River Gateway CVB, Summers County Commission and the WVU Extension Office in the Memorial Building.
Tickets will be available at the door, but advance ticket purchasers will be eligible for a drawing at the end of the evening for a free $100 commemorative brick to be installed in the second wall to be constructed near the Great Bend Tunnel and John Henry statue.
