4-H Youth Development
Help Support Summers County 4-H with our Kroger Cares Fundraiser
You can purchase a Kroger Gift Card from the Summers County Extension Office. They are loaded with $5.00 and cost $5.00. All you need to do is load your gift card at the Kroger service desk with the amount of money you need to buy your groceries, do your grocery shopping, then pay for your groceries with the gift card. Summers County 4-H receives 5% of all monies loaded onto the gift cards linked to their account. Since it must be the cards linked to the Summers County 4-H account, it is important that you buy the gift cards from us. The cards you buy at the register will not benefit the Summers County 4-H.
Three “Best of Show” for SC 4-H Clubs
By Andi Bennett and Ann Lipscomb
Three Summers County 4-H members were honored at the WV State Fair with Best of Show ribbons. Tyler Spicer, Jonathan Lipscomb and Kristina Lipscomb, all members of Hinton Helping Hands 4H Club, completed 4H projects this year getting state-wide recognition. Tyler Spicer’s project was an ink print of a woman’s face in positive and negative,
Jonathan Lipscomb showed his talents by whittling a beautiful chain with a
man’s face and a fan on one end and a ball in a cage on the other end made entirely out of one piece of wood, and Kristina Lipscomb project displayed her talents in artistry by sketching ballet shoes.
WVU Extension is proud of all the youth who turned in projects this past year, over 45 projects were completed and went to the WV State Fair. Once projects are at the fair, staff vote on them to determine “Best of Show”. Congratulations to Tyler, Jonathan and Kristina for their outstanding achievements!
